Meet the Four New Hats

All four share the same build: laser-perforated side and back panels, double-layered sweat- and water-resistant fabric, an odor-resistant inner band, and a soft snapback. What changes is the look.

Hat Color Patch and details
The Late Night Rally All black Black-on-black molded rubber patch, black and white rope detail
The Whitecap White Embroidered black and white palm-and-paddle patch
The Sandbar Neon green, aqua snapback Retro sunset rubber patch, flat brim, seven-panel crown
The Seafoam Seafoam, sand snapback Sand rubber patch with a seafoam palm, curved brim

The Sandbar's neon green matches the ball, and it's built for tennis too.

5 Things That Make a Good Pickleball Hat

The best pickleball hat is one you forget you're wearing. Here's what gets it there.

1. It stays put when you move. Pickleball is short side-to-side bursts and quick resets at the kitchen line. A hat that slides forward mid-dink is a hat you'll take off. You want an adjustable back you can snug down. Ours use a soft snapback, one size fits most, so you set it once and leave it.

2. It handles sweat. Cotton soaks through and sags by the second game. Performance fabric pulls sweat away and dries between games. Ours use a double-layered fabric that resists sweat and hides sweat marks, plus an odor-resistant inner band.

3. It breathes. Court surfaces hold heat, so it's hotter at your head than the forecast says. Lighter fabric and some venting make a real difference by the third hour. Ours have laser-perforated side and back panels, so air moves through while you play.

4. The brim works for the game. You need enough brim to cut sun glare, but a curve that still lets you track a lob over your head. The Seafoam has a curved brim. The Sandbar has a flat brim if you like a cleaner, modern look.

5. You'll wear it after you play. Social pickleball doesn't end at the last point. It's lunch, drinks, or the beach. So the hat should look like something you'd pick on a day off, not just gear you tolerate for two hours.

Cap or Visor for Pickleball?

Wear a cap if you play midday or burn easily. It covers the top of your head and your part, which take a lot of direct sun over a long session.

Wear a visor if you run hot and mostly play early morning or evening.

Plenty of players own one of each and pick based on the time of day. If you run hot, try our Dusk Blue Tennis & Pickleball Visor ($29.99).

A Pickleball Gift That Doesn't Require Knowing Their Paddle

A hat is one of the safest gifts for a pickleball player. Paddles are personal: weight, grip size, and shape all come down to feel, and most players won't switch to one someone else picked.

A hat skips all that. It adjusts to fit, it doesn't change how they play, and they'll wear it every time they're on the court. At $44.99, it works for a birthday, a retirement, or a club gift swap.

Not sure which one? The Late Night Rally is all black and goes with everything. If they like to be spotted across the courts, get The Sandbar. Still can't decide? A Pickled Palm gift card lets them pick.

Pickleball Hat FAQ

What is the best hat for pickleball?

A lightweight performance cap with an adjustable back, sweat-wicking fabric, and a curved brim. It should stay in place during quick side-to-side movement and dry fast between games.

Should you wear a hat to play pickleball?

Outdoors, yes. Sessions often run a couple of hours in direct sun. A hat cuts glare when you're tracking lobs and keeps sweat out of your eyes. Most indoor players skip it.

Is a cap or a visor better for pickleball?

A cap gives more sun protection because it covers your scalp. Midday players usually prefer a cap.

How much are The Pickled Palm hats?

$44.99 each.

Are The Pickled Palm hats adjustable?

Yes. Each one has a soft snapback and is one size fits most.

How do you wash a performance hat?

Hand wash it. The fabric is quick-drying, so it's ready for your next session.
